On March 29th the International Contemporary Artist Space (ICAS) scheduled it's first resident trip to Newport Rhode Island. Newport is renowned for it's upscale antique shops, boutiques, and restaurants, as well as its beautiful scenic coastline and landscape. However, what Newport is most recognized for is it's incredible collection of Mansions. Each one of these mansions are a testament to the former owners' wealth and prestige as well as an incredible collection of art an architecture commonly compared to the great palace of Versailles in France.

The day started off with a visit to one of Newport's largest antique shops, filled wall to wall and spilling outside with beautiful and unique items from small bits of jewelry to enormous bronze statues. After some shopping the residents were brought to a New England style pub which rests on the docks near the ocean where they got to experience Newport's finest
New England Clam Chowder among other New England dining staples. After Lunch, the resident artists were brought to a number of Newport's greatest Mansions, including The Breakers and the Marble House, where they could traverse the mansion grounds and take a leisurely tour inside each of the mansions. The day was ended with a drive along the shoreline including stops along the way for the artists to step out and enjoy the crashing waves and wide open beaches of the area.
